Certainly Apple will get a certain amount of sales just because there
are some people that will buy it just because of the name and the cool
factor of having the latest Apple device but in reality, you could see
this coming because there are a number of people whose only computer
activity is e-mail and web surfing and this is something that the iPad
does fairly well. The netbook successes pointed out that not everyone
needs or wants high end hardware to do minimal computer stuff and the
advantage of 'instant on/no boot time' with the iPad and relatively low
cost makes it a winner.

I don't see a problem with Apple defining markets but like the iPhone,
the heavy handedness of Apple and the ability for open source to drive
sales will ultimately overcome the initial surge.

Good for Apple and good for everyone else too.
