I'm not sure of the specific reason, I'm the test engineer side not dev :)
but I believe that since the rom is build from source tree and device is
rooted that the id needs to be manually set for 2.2 since it is currently
flashed with 2.1 market

Ok, that makes sense. Still, there are many thousands of Froyo users
out there, which means we, as developers should be ready for them.
That was my original point.

Question though, why would there be any spoofing of the market? They
have a 2.2 device, so in what way does this spoofing thing help? I
play within the normal confines so I have no idea the how and why of
custom ROM's.
