Many people installed the 32 bit version of Ubuntu to compile Android 2.2 and 
below. The requirement for a 64 bit version of the OS means doing a completely 
new install on any systems they want to build on with the possibility of  
having to set up dual boot if they want to work on 2.2 and the next version.

And that, Mr. Genius, certainly does have an impact on people.
