I think the questioner's point was he already has a 32 bit OS
installed on his machine and didn't particularly want to
have to reinstall just to get a 64 bit OS.

Using KVM, vmware or virtualbox he could just run the 64 bit OS as a
VM under the 32 bit OS he already has.
