Thanks. I agree. I debated for several days whether this was the right
group to start the discussion and I think it is.

On the other hand, it seems that Android 2.2 main branch and above is
setup to compile under 64-bit Linux OS.
A few hacks are needed to keep building with a 32bit Linux OS.
