Sounds to me like the memory just got hosed when it wasn't shut down properly. At this point, I'd be surprised if there's anything you can do to fix it short of a factory reset - but don't do it just yet, in case somebody else has a better idea. ;-)
Also, you might consider using a utility to back up your list of apps for easier reinstallion after the wipe. I use App List Backup, simple but it does the job.
