Hi, Another Android Market is good for consumers particularly when it is on a large brand website.
It is likely to be good for some/most developers as well but I can understand some of the issues being raised - Likely potential for price disparity between Amazon & Google markets, may not benefit developers and lead to more complaints for devs to handle, which may be amplified by the (new?) App Price Comparison websites that will see an opportunity. Devs can always spend/waste time monitoring their app price in Amazon and then matching it in Google Market if they want to. That Amazon can set the paid app price to free, I think they will still give 20% of Listed Price to dev or is this 20% of nothing - I'm not sure yet. Not sure about apps that serve ads, whether this may lead to conflicts between the T&C of Amazon & Adsense/Google. May lead to a segregation of market perceptions for consumers - Amazon Market is for (quality?) paid apps and Google Android Market is for (quality???) free apps (which serve ads). Apple like rejections of app's by Amazon due of conflicts of interest - for example an eReader app which completes with Kindle or an app that serves ads for Barnes & Noble etc etc. Regards On Jan 8, 7:32 am, Mike Wolfson <[email protected]> wrote: > I fully expect Amazon will adjust pricing of the apps, which is pretty > clear from reading the pricing structure of their store (they > specifically built in a ton of flexibility around pricing, and how it > will effect the developer cut).
