I think its a bad move from google.

Instead of looking for the reason, google is attacking the symptom.
"Sponsoring" Apps: "It's not our core business to make money with software",
will help in the short term for some users, but not help any app developers.

Google is ignoring all the real problems or have no solution for it and
instead is throwing money at the problem.

- Market sucks
- Fragmentation
- Market sucks
- Android Update process on devices
- Market sucks
- Buggy releases
- Market sucks
- Incomplete/Broken Implementation of core features in devices (OpenGL ES)
- Market sucks
- Java/Dalvik Problems: Garbage Collection Pauses
- Market sucks
- NDK problems: Missing features, buggy, slow, very low quality
- Market sucks
- Low latency audio
- Market sucks
- ... much more

Everybody knows the problems...
