I have a brother who lives in Alameda. I crash at his house when I'm
in town. Can't beat the price!

I've never understood why tech startups locate in San Francisco other than for prestige. SF is expensive real estate and most people can't afford to live there. Much more affordable is the East Bay. The best location to live is the South Bay if you want to play high tech roulette as far as jobs go. During the dot com boom housing there go so unaffordable that maintenance people for the tech offices could no longer afford to live there. There were grandiose ideas of providing high speed rail so they could commute in from the Central Valley. But you would get silence if you asked the tech CEOs if they were willing to pay more in taxes to fund such a project.
