That echos my thoughts.

How well was Nokia doing before this? Lower cost Android devices have
threatened their market share big time.

Before this, they were working on their new proprietary operating
system, that won't be out for another year or so. That operating
system could be better than sliced bread, and who would care? The
market has gotten pretty jaded already about mobile OSs. Win Phone 7
has some good points, yet the public just hasn't gotten excited about
it.

Of course, I think Nokia should have just embraced Android. They have
their own reasons for not doing that. Given that, though, I'm pretty
sure Win Phone 7 is better than what they could come up with on their
own. I'll put to the side the question of whether Microsoft is more
evil than Google or Apple because that really isn't relevant.
