Yeah, I looked around and suspect it requires rooting.  Not sure if
it's readable, however (it might be encrypted).

In any case, I was stupid(er) and tried to look at "All Mail", which
triggered a sync on the phone, which deleted everything in the INBOX.
Bleh.

Thanks for your suggestions - Google REALLY should allow exporting and
sync-direction control.
