Many applications out there today (I've written three myself) make use of the *home activity* pattern. What I mean by that is that the application has a *main* or *home* activity (that is launched from the home screen) and then a series of activities that can be chained after. Most of the time, in the * other* activities there is either a button to the left of the title bar or an item in the options menu that will take the user straight back to the * home* activity, finishing all/any other activities. This is a great pattern: it's intuitive and easy to use.
What I was thinking about doing is, besides having the home button in the title bar and/or the option menu item, overriding the "hard" home key to have the same behavior (take the user back to the main activity). What do you think about this? How would you feel if an app did this? Sure, it would be surprising and maybe unpleasant at first, but wouldn't it be useful after you get the hang of it? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
