OT: Might sound nice if you say "our son" - no matter the condition, just a reminder (no need to explain). Now, why not check it there in the system? Turn off the data connection and play those games. Airplane mode and other modes should not turn off data connection. I believe there is an option there to turn off the data connection, if not ask the customer service of Verizon.
