Airplane mode most definitely DOES turn off the data connection. That's
pretty much entirely the point.

Any games that have been played WITH the data connection on already
(that aren't networked games) should be fine with the data connection
disabled. But be sure to play any games before you leave with an active
connection, in case they're using Android licensing. SOME may require a
connection every time you play, but that would be a pretty poor design;
the way I did it in Hamster: Attack! was to only require a single
validation on a particular device, and I think that's common.
