You'll want the Nexus S, or to wait until later this year for the next 
generation of the Nexus phone.

The Nexus One is no longer out for retail, if I recall correctly. T-Mobile (or 
Amazon.com) will sell you an unlocked Nexus S. (Guess which of those has the 
better deal?)

Then go for the Nexus line. Or as TreKing suggested, get a phone and 
root/reflash it (though that tosses your warranty in the trash can). The nice 
thing about the Nexus line is that Google will push updates as soon as they are 
available over the air via WiFi. And have committed to push those updates for 
as long as the hardware will support them. (I don't know if this is the same 
for all phones, but I have noted that some phones just won't take updates 
without a root and reflash.)
