It may well be an issue of definitions. I'm not much of a gamer, but I'd be inclined to say that "casual" and "immersive" are all but mutually exclusive by definition.
Casual games are something I pick up to kill 5 minutes waiting in the dentist's office, and I expect to still be monitoring my notifications, watching the time, etc. Hence, keeping the status bar visible is a big plus. I specifically don't want them to be immersive. Non-casual games are something I seek out when I know I have more time and I'm up for something more engaging. Immersive is good here, and hiding the status bar (i.e., full-screen) is fine. But all of this is OT, of course. Getting away from non-casual games, I can't think of many other apps that should be full-screen, IMO. It even bugs me that the Kindle app is full-screen, because I often use that in a "casual" setting, and want to see my notifications.
