Due to the wonders of the US patent system, if you can be shown to be aware of 
a patent and then you're judged to infringe on it the penalties are higher than 
if you can claim ignorance.

Patent discussions on some of the Android discussion groups get ... ermm.... 
ignored and/or cut short... because of this, so don't rely on anyone from 
Google acknowledging anything to do with patents because the only buttong 
they're likely to hit is delete.
