Bringing this discussion back around to Google IO - I have heard, that Vic 
G didn't like how large the Microsoft developer conferences were getting 
when he worked there.

That is why he limits the IO attendance to 6,000 - which is still super 
large, and hard to find people.  Although at that scale - there are lots of 
opportunities to interact with the Googlers and get questions answered 
(which is one of the reasons we go to these things).

JSConf is in my hometown this year, and is capped at 200.  At that size is 
too small (I think not the "right" 200 people were lucky enough to hit the 
conference lottery, and get a ticket, in the 1 minute they were on sale).
