Thanks for the suggestion, Scott. I ran the alsamixer app and got some
puzzling results. If I go through all the controls to take everything
off mute and/or set the gain to 0db or greater, there is no
change--still no sound. There's a lot of controls that show up, but no
"Master" which seems odd to me. What's more is that in the top left
corner the "chip" field is completely blank. The "board" field shows up
as "omap3beagle" which seems fine. Also, when I press [F2] for system
info the program just dies.
When I try this on my Ubuntu box I get totally reasonable results for
all the fields in the corner, the [F2] info, and the controls, etc. I
also tried running "amixer info" to see what that might tell me. On
Ubuntu I get:
Card default 'AudioPCI'/'Ensoniq AudioPCI ENS1371 at 0x2080, irq 16'
Mixer name : 'Cirrus Logic CS4297A rev 3'
Components : 'AC97a:43525913'
Controls : 24
Simple ctrls : 13
On my beagleboard, I get:
Card default 'omap3beagle'/'omap3beagle'
Mixer name : ''
Components : ''
Controls : 70
Simple ctrls : 67
Does this mean that some alsa component wasn't built or was built
incorrectly?
I can't say for certain. If there's absolutely no sound coming out of
the setup you have, I'd compare the kernel config from this setup with
the one you had which worked.
I'm out of ideas otherwise. :(
