I don't understand.  Those packages seem to be available.  Are you just 
saying that, even though the package is on the feed, that it is not 
working?  I saw ssl there as well, but have yet to test that.

Again, thunderbird was there, but apparently broken.

Maybe I should have stated up front that I have a zaurus 3100, a spitz. 
  It seems that this was the only version of thunderbird available. 
Well, seemingly available.
