I compiled the 2.6.24 kernel from .dev and have been running it with no 
problems for about a week.  Same wifi card - Planex Marvell chipset 8385 
card.  No stability issues.

Some minor usability issues with r9, but nothing major.

The most annoying thing is that the wifi card takes about a minute to 
resume, and nothing I do can cut that time down.

Even when the network is down, the card just takes that long.
