After reading guidelines, tutorials, examples, than, I can say, yes, you definitely need to learn Typescript or you will get different troubles by trying figure out, how to use AngularJS 2 with Javascript. 10 time less any information and examples for Typescript, examples in official tutorial are broken for Javascript. At least in 2 of 4, which I have checked. At the moment, you need definitely learn Typescript. As, I describe the situation for now, the situation may/should/can change in future for Javascript.
