The refusal to embrace XML namespace, which are increasingly being used
with XML and is a natural fit to partition XML dialect, is not a good sign
either. The lack of <antlib> and the multiplication of Ant extension
points beyond tasks/datatypes is hurting Ant even more (although Costin
and Magesh are working on those, when will they show up in a release? In a
year? Two?)

I consider [embed] experiment is almost done - I'll start proposing adding ( some ) of the stuff to the main tree as soon as I get some time
( that should be weeks ).

I would like to add that I've been building all my projects with Centipede that uses that stuff *extensively*, and it all works well.
Beta testing to the max! ;-)

Assuming ProjectComponentHelper hook is accepted ( in one form or another ),
antlib(s) will be trivial to implement.

Regarding "extension points" - I think we do need more, not less. I agree it would be better to have a more consistent mechanism and definition and docs.
