My support came from the fact that I'm now toying with Velocity more and more and that the submission was incredibly thorough. As I recall, VPP was billed as a javac preprocessor when it was originally submitted, and that doesn't carry the same interest to me that this recent submission has.


So, its a personal support decision, not really based on any "rules". Because Velocity is a Jakarta project also, it seems more "ok" to include as a dependency in Ant than otherwise.

For the record, I'm maintaining (and currently enhancing) the Lucene <index> task within Lucene's CVS sandbox area.
