Czech, Kuwaiti Troops Plan Joint Exercise Apr 29, 2002 -- (BBC Monitoring) Excerpt from report in English by Czech news agency CTK. Kuwait, 28 April: Soldiers from the Czech antichemical union who have been serving in Kuwait within the Enduring Freedom antiterrorist operation since March, will have a joint exercise with the Kuwaiti army, Defense Minister Jaroslav Tvrdik said before leaving Kuwait today. Further cooperation between the Czech and Kuwaiti armed forced will be based on the results of this exercise, he said... Tvrdik said today again that the American commanders considered the Czech unit the best of its type in the world. [Czech Foreign Minister Jan] Kavan said before the departure from Kuwait City that Kuwait would support his candidature for the United Nations General Assembly chairman. Both ministers today held talks with their Kuwaiti counterparts - Defense Minister Sabah Shaykh Jabir Mubarak al-Hamad and Foreign Minister Sabah Shaykh Sabah al-Jabir. According to Czech Foreign Ministry spokesman Ales Pospisil, the ministers agreed on the establishment of joint commissions of Czech and Kuwaiti businessmen which contribute to the growth of bilateral trade. Kuwait is interested in Czech industrial products, Pospisil said, adding that Kuwaitis also would like to visit Czech spas. Kavan today gave the Kuwaiti partners a letter from President Vaclav Havel for the Kuwaiti emir in which Havel praised good relations between the two countries and thanked the emir for the provision of a plane...
