I totally agree.  I certainly plan to give the project clear focus on
short-term goals and deliverables (via the roadmap, chats, communication
on mailing lists, etc.).

However, I also want to encourage everyone to work on things that they
WANT working in AOLserver.  I don't want the message to be "this is the
current project focus and anyone working on something else will be
scolded or shunned."  I am simply saying that "this is the direction I,
personally, will be pushing in and everyone is encouraged to help push,
but if you want to do something else, great!"  I only care that people
are DOING things.  It's a big plus if they're doing the things that *I*
feel need to get done.

If, in the end, AOLserver only ends up supporting Tcl, Java, PHP, Python
and SML -- great!  That's the voice of the collective AOLserver
Community speaking as to what they really *need* to have in AOLserver in
order to use it.  I'd be perfectly fine with that.  If AOLserver ends up
supporting over 20 languages in-process through a module system, I will
be very proud of that accomplishment, too.
