Thanks to the European Commission and/or Fran hijacking that project,
we now have a new feature for language pair developers: trace
Trace mode shows you (on stderr) which rule(s) and input were matched
before output:
$ echo '^the<det><def><sp>$ ^dog<n><sg>$' |apertium-transfer -t
apertium-en-es.en-es.t1x en-es.t1x.bin en-es.autobil.bin
Rule 92 the<det><def><sp>
Rule 5 the<det><def><sp> dog<n><sg>
^Det_nom<SN><DET><GD><sg>{^el<det><def><3><4>$ ^perro<n><3><4>$}$
I'm still not sure if displaying all the rules matched along the way
to a final match is a bug or a feature, so debate among yourselves.
