Hi Victor,
I find your approach very interesting. It might turn out very
useful.

I have been thinking along the same lines. It would be very useful to
take advantage of the knowledge of non-experts. Please tell me more
about your efforts!

I've also thought of other ways to make contributions easier. What about
a GUI for entering rules (without the need to enter strange tags), it
would be easier and more attractive to contribute. Think of WYSIWYG web
design software (no need to write html). Make the threshold for
contributors lower!

And further, make the efforts to contribute more rewarding: fix the
character problems in Apertium-tolk or make a new simple GUI for
translating with Apertium. Let it be easy to see the results of the
contributions!

Yours,
Per Tunedal

  Hi,

I am developing a method to learn Apertium shallow-transfer rules
from the translations of small chunks provided by non-expert
users. In order to generalise the learned rules, I check the
bilingual dictionary which, as far as I know, encodes only the
lemma and the tags changed when translating from source language
to target language.
