Hi,
when adding some abbreviations I stumbled on some that are proper nouns,
like EU, FN (= UN) etc. And some others that always are capitalized,
like FM (the radio frequency for the old-fashioned analogue radio).
I've looked into some monolingual dictionaries, but haven't managed to
figure out if/how Apertium knows the difference between capitalized and
non-capitalized words. Or even ordinary proper nouns with the first
letter capitalized, like "Tom" as opposed to "tom" ("empty" or the
abbreviation for "until"). Or is the lexical selection entirely
dependent on word class, i.e. the tagger?
Yours,
Per Tunedal
