Well, catastrophe might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it would be non-optimal, yes. You could analyse the subject form as the object form too, introducing an ambiguity. But then it would be up to the tagger or transfer to decide which one you meant. You could for example say "forbid imperative followed by subject" and then "discard object if subject" with the TSX rules -- but you'd probably have to retrain the tagger, and that might make things worse not better.
