If you can translate the story to the stage that it is without * @ and # then I'd be satisfied that you know what you're doing. I'd recommend going in the Hindi->English direction to start off with -- it will be easier for us to evaluate.
For an experienced developer with knowledge of both languages, it should take anywhere between 1-2 days. So for a student with experience in NLP I expect it might take them a week.
