I am trying to write grammar rules for Hindi English. I have some doubts
regarding the task.
1) Is it necessary to use the story mentioned in the task to create rules (
the translations are not quite good). In the story Person names are
substituted with different names in Hindi.
2) How to handle the words which are not found in the bilingual dictionary?
Eg. Hin: हमे टेबल खिड़की के पास चाहिए .
Lexical transfer: ^*हमे/*हमे$ ^टेबल<n><m><sg><nom>/table<n><sg><nom>$
^*खिड़की/*खिड़की$ ^के पास<post>/near<pr>$
^चाह<vblex><tv><imp><p2><frm><pl>/like<vblex><imp><p2><frm><pl>$
^.<sent>/.<sent>$^.<sent>/.<sent>$
In this example I am Mt did not translate the words "हमे"(us) and
"खिड़की"(window) (these are very common words). So no POS tag/ root is
assigned to these words. How can I write a reorder rule without POS tag!
3) Where can I get the list of all POS tags used.
4) List of tags that is to be used to write the grammar?
