Regarding the quick vocab add, you may want to take a look at this email I
sent almost a year ago
It's basically a mode in dixtools that allows you to add basic words to a
standard dix file (never tested with metadixes).

Right now, it only works or the most simple cases (names and adjectives),
but it's an easy way to add new entries to the dictionaries without editing
the XML.
However, as you'll probably find out once you start editing the
dictionaries, when you're familiar with a DIX file and its paradigms it's
probably faster just to edit them than using this "simple" tools (or a
similar *script-based* tool for simple additions), and as Kevin mentioned
to have something that covers all the cases, you may need a GSOC project
just to build it.
