In our most recent update (1.6.1) we added a fix for editing Tags. There was an issue with spaces in the tag names that was causing errors. Basically, the spell checker would pop up when entering the tag name and people would hit space to make it go away and then save the tag. The tag would then have a space in the name and cause problems like you are describing.
With the new update, if you go and edit the tags, they will correct themselves. Can you grab the latest version (it's a free update to 1.6.1) and let us know if the tag problem you are seeing is fixed.
