Spaces are supported in tags in Todo, but if you sync to RTM they will cause problems because RTM don't allow spaces in their tag names. Toodledo does supported spaces in tag names.
Also, the existing tasks that had the problem previously will probably still have multiple tags on them until you go into the tags and uncheck the tag until it actually unchecks. In other words, if you have a task that appears to have the same tag assigned multiple times, go into to edit the tags and click the tag until it actually un-checks, that will remove all instances of the tag. Then you can re-check it if you want it set only once.
