Unfortunately, I had already swipe deleted them and was running into the problem when I contacted you. I changed Synchronization settings as you suggested and still cannot add any new entries. As an experiment I will swipe delete the remaining five entries and see if the app will let me add a new entry:

I cannot add any new events manually or by syncing. A bit of a bummer. Hopefully you can fix this soon with an update. I can't imagine I'm the only person bumping into this problem.
