I would like to disagree with the Start Date concept presented above. I suspect that the majority of users are focused on the due date. I suggest the following alternative:
( 1 ) Make Start Date a setting option. If you want to use them, turn it on. The default operation of the program is No Start Dates. I suspect the majority of users are focused on due dates and do not want to manage 2 dates for every task because they will usually be setting the Start and Due dates to the same value. ( 2 ) If there is an empty Start Date, then the Due Date rules the Day Heading. ( 3 ) If the Start Date is not empty, then the Start Date rules the Day Heading. Examples (assume today's date is March 13): ---- Tasks with Due Dates & No Start Dates ----- Task 0 - Start Empty / Due March 12 = Overdue Task 1 - Start Empty / Due March 13 = Today Task 2 - Start Empty / Due March 14 = Tomorrow ---- Tasks with Start Dates & Due Dates ------- Task 3 - Start March 12 / Due March 15 = Today Task 4 - Start March 14 / Due March 16 = Tomorrow Task 5 - Start March 16 / Due March 20 = Next 7 Days (etc., etc.) ---- Tasks with No Start and No Due ------ Task 6 - Start Empty / Due Empty = No Due Date ---- Tasks with Start & No Due Date ----- Task 7 - Start March 12 / Due Empty = Overdue Task 8 - Start March 13 / Due Empty = Today Task 9 - Start March 14 / Due Empty = Tomorrow Task A - Start March 16 / Due Empty = Next 7 Days (etc., etc.) The fundamental difference being that ( a ) if there is no Start Date, then only the Due Date is considered, and ( b ) if there is a Start Date, then the Start Date is considered. To do it differently means that EVERY task MUST have a start date, or it will automatically be a Today item. That requires setting 2 dates for every task item, which would reduce the speed of use considerably. What about tasks that have no due date and no start date - would those also be considered "Today" items? That really doesn't make sense. Thanks. I really like the application and it's ease of use. It's quick and effective. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Learn more about Todo, Notebook (notes available everywhere), and AccuFuel (fuel efficiency tracker) on Appigo's website: http://www.appigo.com/ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Appigo Todo" group.
