To those who have any experience with G.890: Is Honeycrisp on G.890 an ultimately freestanding tree? Or is the graft union too brittle? Will G.890 require permanent support, or just temporary support? I hear conflicting reports.
Also, if G.890 is capable of producing ultimately freestanding trees, will bench grafts provide better graft strength and significantly improve freestanding success over bud grafts?
