Hi all, I am new to this list. I am a college student and avid Mac user; I grew up with Apple II's and my favorite os the II's was the IIgs. This weekend, I was given a IIgs and I need some help getting started again.
I would like to be able to use this computer but I am faced with the fact that I have the CPU and two working 5.25" floppy drives, but no way to get data onto disks that old. My first concern is with video; I don't have an old monitor to use with it. I have an Apple MutiScan display but it needs a "Start Code" in order to display video so if I plug the IIgs into it it remains blank. I would love to find a way to make this monitor work with it because I want to preserve my limited desk space. Any suggestions? I tried using its S-Video out port but quickly leared that it will only display in grays on this port. I have a few older Macs, including a Mac TV (running System 7) and I was hoping that I could write ProDOS disks with this computer. I have an 800K external Mac floppy drive with the same pin configuration, will this drive work on the IIgs? I have a disk image of "Your Tour of The Apple IIgs" (I have very fond memories of this) and I also have GS/OS disk images as well (as .DSK files). How can I get them on the IIgs? Finally, this is going out on a limb, but I am looking for a copy of a program I played in grade school. It was made my Pelican Software and I believe it was called "Monster Maker". Basically you could make a monster and put it against different backgrounds then print it out. Does anyone have a copy of this? Thanks a lot and I look forward to the discussions!
