All versions of the //e's power supplies are interchangable. The latest series of //e power supply is the best design of all of them as it is similar to the //GS power supply. It is worth getting repaired.. Apple used a special power transistor in that power supply which is hard to find a replacement for it. I would look for the //Gs power supply and rob that power transistor to fix the //e power supply. There are some 0 ohm resistors that open up and check those first. Maybe one of those popped open.
