Forgive the ignorance, but I believe it was the Ampex tapes which used iron oxide coatings went bad after a specific time and had to be baked (eight hours at 130 degrees F, according to John Melancamp) in order to keep the coatings intact. Is this an issue with fl(i/o)ppies?
