I wonder if it's heat (which you can tell by running the GS with the cover
off and seeing if it shows the same problem), or maybe, since the speed's
affected, the PRAM battery - it could be going to default settings every
time you power up. (are the date and time ok?) If you haven't ever
changed the battery I'd try that. Also, do you have a cooling fan on your
GS?
