USB disk drive is connected to eMac. LC has its own disk drive already. There is a partition on LC already - 10MB Prodos.
My question is what software do I need to convert downloaded images on eMac
to files readable by Apple IIe card.

You first need to get the files in the LC III before thinking about opening
them. As USB drives are only compatible with "new world" Macintoshes, you
can't just plug your USB drive into the LC III. Your best bet is a 3.5"
floppy drive, or maybe a local network.
Once the files are in the LC III, you can set up a ProDOS partition in the
disk and copy the files there, so the IIe card can access them. It then
turns into an Apple II software matter - you need the right Apple II
program to open the file, for example, Appleworks to open an Appleworks
word processor file. Or, if they are 5.25" or 3.5" disk images, you can use
any imaging software to turn them into real diskettes (AFAIK, you can't use
disk images with the IIe card).
