And, you are correct...it doesn't REALLY download anything, i.e. you can't find anything in the cache after you experience one of these...because it is NOT downloading. It isn't really a download, at all....the count increases rapidly until it reaches a DOS limit up around 8.5Mbyte, then Arachne crashes. Second: My ISP's servers have ab-so-lute-ly noth-ing to do with whether or not cookies get sent or received. My ISP's servers simply provide me with a high grade link to the internet. Third: You are never going to solve YOUR problems with the flawed code on your site [Your idiot webmaster probably doesn't even send test cookies in his code -- more likely he uses some sort of javascript in an attempt to ascertain what browser is being used to access your site, and if the code doesn't find a browser which is "hard wired" into the code, the User is sent to your all too inaccurate a much too flatulent "You must have cookies" page] unless and until the blame is placed where it belongs, the cretin who has been lying in his teeth to you is fired, and someone semi-competent is put to work setting the page code for your sight straight. Fourth: You can send this message to trash and ignore everything I'm telling you. It's no skin off my nose. I don't do commercially designed websites. I don't need your site or your services. My life will continue on without my ever even noticing that I cannot access your site, because I won't attempt to in future. For anyone looking to a stable, manageable, version of of Arachne, I also would recommend 1.66 ... with one adendum: I would suggest that the version of InSight which comes with 1.70r3 [and earlier?] be substituted for the version which came in 1.66 originally. Now, if I recall correctly, there was a change in mime.cfg structure between 1.59 and the 1.60+ versions; if this is the case, that would mean that Seek couldn't use the current mime.cfg file, but he should be able to use the current Arachne.cfg file ... correct? (this will D/L the page without attempting to display it) This also points-out another problem in v1.70;r3 After using Cntrl+enter, all of the links on the page are "dead". We must leave the page and come back to it in order to bring the links "back-to-life". :(( After doing that, we can then take the same link again and the page will be displayed. - -- Glenn http://arachne.cz/ http://freedos-32.sourceforge.net/ http://www.delorie.com/listserv/mime/ http://www.angelfire.com/id/glenndoom/download.htm ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 May 2001 22:41:09 +0000 From: "Seek Hey - King of Padua" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: THANKS TO EVERYONE On Thu, 24 May 2001 14:15:02 -0500, L.D. Well.. I want to thank you all for your disponibility for me, anyway I have a great idea.. I'll download my copy of arachne tomorrow at school :).. on fridays and on saturdays I have access to a PC at the library adiacent to my high school :) I think I'll download the IRC estension for arachne, too. Thanxx to you all again and sorry for disturbing.. Byeeeeeee!! Well.. they detected my win98 copy was illegal because my grandma (who lent me the CD) received an email from a server I was sending an email to.. it was a cross-checking. I deleted windows from my pc and never installed it anymore, so now i'm on the side of the law :).. If the police comes to my house, they won't find anything wrong. Anyway, I think that here almost everyone owns a non-original (lent or copied) installation of windows.. here nobody has Win95 no more, and I can find a copy of win 98 2000 nt or me at 2,5 USD each at school.. Only I don't want to use windows no more. A lot of people say to be microsoft free because they have netscape and not internet explorer, but they're just ridicolous. Anyway, I'm the only person I know microsoft found with a non original copy of windows.. I suppose yours ain't original too, am I right? If I could, I'd just suggest you to DELETE IT and to use linux or qnx or arachne. Only doing so, you will be the one by the side of the law. Byeeeee.
