Ji, I don't think it would work. I recently had to reinstall Arachne
1.6b1 and I set the cache to a non-existent directory and Arachne
refused to load the packet driver. There is a section in one of the
Options selections to expire cache pages. I am not sure how they work
exactly, but you might want to try one or more of these options and
see if they do what you want to do.
