This can be done using Arachne's built-in editor.
Eneter file:history.lst on the URL line.
Choose to "view as text" and edit the file with F4

But...How long have you been saving this same history file???<g>

I have found the perfect solution (for myself at least):
Upon exiting Arachne, my batch file deletes the history file.

And then how would we be able to use the "back" and "forward" functions
to revisit a local file???<g>

 Correct.
Because that's what we have done. (visited sites in this order)
1,2,3,4,5,2,1,6,7,8,9,10,11,3,5,7,1,12,13,14,15,7,3,6,9,etc,etc,etc....

If it worked as you propose... it would become:
....................4,2,8,10,11,5,1,12,13,14,15,7,3,6,9,etc,etc,etc
(duplicates repositioned) |

same sequence in reverse.... |
1,2,3,4,5,2,1,6,7,8,9,10,11,3,5,7,1,12,13,14,15,7,3,6,9,etc,etc,etc....
