I was able to register myself for Freewwweb at www.teledyn.com using the
net computer at my local library. Pretty smooth. Came up with an
accecpted member name on the 2nd try. Library machine would not
accomodate downloading the .cgi file to disk, but that is not a problem.

Back home, I went throught the Arachne "PPP setup" without any obvious
difficulties. On attempting to dial:

ALT-D (worked fine, although it took a couple tries to get past the busy
signal)

I'm in terminal mode, so I can see what is happening.

"Login ID: " typed in my member name including "@freewwweb.com"

"Password: " accepted my password with out complaint

"Entering PPP Session."
"IP address is blah, blah, blah"
"MTU is 1524"

At this point there is no further response.
Cannot exit Arachne with ALT-X.
DOS 3-finger salute required to a response.

If anyone recognizes these symptoms, I would sincerely appreciate your
advice!

Equipment is a Zenith Z248-50 (80286, 8 Mhz), 20 meg HD, 2.5 meg of RAM,
DR-DOS 7.03, VDISK, NWCACHE.
Using Arachne 148b.

Thank You.
