 There's your problem.... you haven't logged-in yet.

 You must wait for a message such as "login" or "username" or
"enter user name"  (something like that)

Then you'll type your user name and press enter.
Next you'll wait for a message such as "password" or "enter password"
At which point you'll type your password and press enter.

 Then you see a bunch of uninteligable characters start to fill your
screen. _Now_ you press F7.
