Hi Roger;
Some, possibly many, ISPs have switched to login and authentication in
PPP mode. One of mine has done that. There are no login: or password
prompts. I queried him about it, thinking it wasn't bothering to check
who I was, and that's when he told me it now happens AFTER the switch
to PPP.
Not believing him, I changed my password in Arachne.cfg.
Guess what ? I couldn't get in !!
How Arachne or EPPPD knows what is going on is beyond me. <g>
