Damn. I really screwed up here. A real wolf screamer !! Now you are going
to assume I'm going off half-cocked in all my future bug reports. :(
My apologies, I lied when I said the pages were unmodified. I *REALLY*
thought I saw the effect before I set BODY BACKGROUND="". I must have
changed it without even thinking about it, as I DO use the complete new
package for testing, including all new pages. At least for the FIRST test.
That's IT. It must have been the second test! Yeah. That's my story now.
Interesting. It appears that the fix to <BODY BACKGROUND=""> has changed
some other things. Not necessarily all bad, but one is weird.
Using Options|Preferences as the test page this is the result with some
different Body Background tags with version 1.60s and 1.61 on P90,640x480x16.
In all cases, BGCOLOR=BLACK NORESIZE is on the SAME line as the BODY BG tag.
Arachne BODY BACKGROUND tag Result:*RIGHT* side Options|Preferences TIME
V1.60s ="SETUP.GIF" BLUE border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 3.0sec
="" BLACK border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
="X" Black border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
=NUL Black border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
=0 Black border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
= SILVER border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
!BODY BACK..... SILVER border/bkgrnd WHITE text on "EEEEEE" 4.0sec
*^^^^^*
V1.61 ="SETUP.GIF" BLUE border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 3.0sec
="" BLACK border/bkgrnd WHITE text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
="X" Black border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
=NUL Black border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
=0 Black border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
= SILVER border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 2.0sec
!BODY BACK..... SILVER border/bkgrnd Black text on "EEEEEE" 4.0sec
In the last case, the "!" obviously comments out the entire line, including
the BGCOLOR tag. But what about the one above it ? And it's faster too.
The "X" and 0 (zero) were test dummys.
The only REALLY strange result above is with "" where the TEXT changes color
and, on the LEFT side of the page, the text color is black in the first table
and white in the second, black in the third etc. and all the text on the right
side is white !
All things considered, it behaves strangely enough to call it a bug. IMHO.
BTW Michael, is NUL a legal value ?
